New Transmissin Reprogramming Kit

Just installed a Transgo 'Tugger' kit in my X transmission. All I can say is WOW This beast is a competely different rig, it is totally different. Driving normal speeds you can tell a difference but it is still very smooth. Push the pedal down and this thing accelerates through the shift instead of pausing. It actually lurches forward and sets you back in your seat. I'm talking split second shifts. I can't wait to tow with it and see how it performs.

I installed one into my 95 mustang when I bought it new. Your right, what a difference. The factory set up for the transmission was six seconds of shift time between gears. You didn't really notice it until like you said, "split second" and your right. I recommend it for any of the Ford auto transmissions.

If someone would tell me why my signature will not show up below my posts, my rig info would be readily available. I have a V10 with the 4R100 tranny in my 2000 Excursion.

It seems to me that there is a dearth of information about transmissions on FTE. It seems like everyone is satisfied with using the programmers to make their trans shift different. It seems like everyone is so interested in maxing their engines performance out and settles for whatever comes with their chip.

Now I have only been investigating this stuff for a couple months and I am certainly no expert. I am of the opinion that the programmers act more like band aids when it comes to tuning the transmission. I guess I have bought into the line that the transmissions have weaknesses and problems built into them that need to be fixed. I look at the programmer as treating a symptom and the trans reprogramming kit as fixing the problem.

I would love to have a discussion with someone that knows about both of these avenues. If you talk to transmission folks they say fix the trans. If you talk to those who buy and sell chips they say buy the chips.

I really wanted to fix my trans to increase longevity and have better shifts. I haven't heard anyone say a programmer will increase longevity. I now know my trans is functioning properly.

If I am way off the mark with my thinking, I welcome a good discussion.
