2000 x the only trailer light(s) working are the running lights. Brake lights and turn signals/hazzards won't work. It's not the trailer, it works on another truck. No voltage reading at my connector on those pins (left or right stop/turn). Voltage on running light pin only.
Is there a relay or a fuse that could be faulty??? I don't have the owners manual, so I don't know what relay is for what function??? I checked every fuse with a test light all seemed ok. This is driving me nuts...any help would be much appreciated.
Check the fuses under the hood (I forget which fuse number), near the driver-side hood hinge. Mine was blown when I first hitched a trailer to my X, and I had the same outages you mentioned above.
I also have 7 pin for all of my trucks. Now what I find with these is the wireing going into the plug gets corroted and the have to be restriped & cleaned & rewired. Good luck. also sometimes you have to change the plug as well. Cause the screws strip out.
Thanks, both were blown...Don't know what caused it??? Looks like the previous owner tapped wire for a reciever brake light, maybe during the course of probing wires he grounded out somehow???? Havent replaced the fuses yet. Thanks for your help.....
landyot,fordtech....You got it....Thanks a ton, new fuse, no more problems....I am killing time at work (double shift) went through the 60 pages in this forum. (Took about 3 hours of leisurely reading don't tell the boss).
All I gotta say is holy $#@* there is some awesome info burried in here and some really helpful people. I wanna get out of work and grease my clunky slip joint.
Hey Gutcheck..... you can download an Adobe Acrobat version of Owner's Manual and Maintenance Guide from http://myford.fordvehicles.com/. You will have to register and log in, but at least you'll have the manual.
