i'm looking at a set of 36x14.5x16.5 hawgs for my f250. its a heavy truck and was wondering how good they are. i heard they last a long time and are good in the mud. this is a work truck in deep mud(welding rig) so i need a good overall tire but mainly good in bottomless mud. we get the tractor stuck alot.
I hear there pretty good.I never had set set of them yet but im thinking about it.And yes they do last a long time from what i hear too.only thing i hear about them i dont like is they lie about there tire sizes .so those 36" hawgs well be like 34"s really.from what im told.jasons buddy bought some 40" hawgs and i think he said they were only 38" tall new he said.but i hear they do good in the mud.if you do buy them measure them when you get them and let me know how tall they are.
Yeah from what I'm hearing the Ground Hawg is the longest lasting bias ply mud tire out there and they do well in the mud too. I'm considering those tires as well, if you do get them tell me if you like them.
hawgs are great i have a set of 40x17x15's and though i have damn near run them ragged they are an awesome tire my buddy ran them for a while then i bought them from him have put countless hours of mud chugging on them not to mention the great weekend ground pounding nights. and unfortunatly as fordpickmeup said they dont measure true but that never bothered me..in my opinion they are a great tire i recomend them all the way
i think if i do go with the hawgs i will get the 44" hawgs.since they add about 2" to the real height so those 44's will be like 42's.i still dont know why they lie about there tires sizes though.
I have heard there are different ways of measuring the tires though. I BFG AT's on mine which are 285/R16 which they claim is a 33" tire but I measured it and only measured 31 inches! I think there is a formula for measuring tires but not exactly sure, I heard you measure from the hub.
I just measure them from the ground up .I have bfg 35" tires and there only 33" tall.but i think the super swampers are right on when you measure them.LOTS OF TIRES CO's DO THIS and i dont know why.do they really think we are all that dumb?
I guess if you do want a tire thats 36" tall then id get the 38" hawgs.or you can buy some super swampers everyone i talk to tells me that a super swamer is true to size.So if you buy a 36" super swamper its really a 36".Im guessing you have a lift on you're truck?
its my daily driver/work truck/farm truck. it'll have a 60 front with more than likely a detroit. i got a detroit in the 10 1/4 rear now. i have 4.10 gears and would like to keep them and drop my rpm down a bit on the highway. i know i'm cheating and getting a little extra overdrive from the taller tires but still in my torque curve. i need more ground clearence but still need the truck to be short to clear the barn, gates and make it easier to access the welder in the bed. i'm over 6 feet tall so with a 4" lift and fender flairs i hoping this willl work. if you guys got any better ideas let me know i can't afford to waste money. i going for the low center of gravity stuffed wheel wells look. the truck is heavy too a little over 7500 lbs and the mud has no bottom so i need the flotation
