Headlight **** '78

I have a question about removing this. I read the previous thread on the same issue, but I was wondering, with the little plastic button on the switch do I push it straight down or it is supposed to slide back? I can get it to slide back but with no amount of force will it go straight down.

Then I have to pull as hard as I can? Is there a specific spot the **** has to be in before I push the button or to pull it out correctly? Do I have to pull until I give myself a hernia? My dash panel is hanging on by this asinine little **** in the corner and I am about ready to snap it off out of anger. They should have made it the same as the rest of the *****.

On all of the switches I have ever taken apart you have to push straight down when the **** is fully extended.

Does it take brute strength or will it pop out easily when I've found the "sweet spot"?

That's correct.
That's why you disconnect the battery before working on it.

You don't push the button down until the switch is in the *headlights on* position

Or if you want a fire under the dash when the wiring shorts out, or worse yet if you have a ring on your hand... -ALWAYS disconnect the battery.

I saw a picture of a guys hand where a ring had shorted some electrical contacts, burned it down to the bone all the way around, -very nasty.

Depends on what youre doing I guess. I havent had to get in depth enough recently to where I was worried about getting into electrical contacts. I have seen what happened to a guy I knew who checked his coil by puttting a screwdriver in it and cranking the motor over at the selenoid.
