First off wlecome to FTE and the Fla chapter! I take it from your name your in or around Tampa? If so i would start by checking Cophers Upullit sometimes you can get lucky there. Another would be the barely used auto parts yards Brandon auto salvage is one and Langstons is another i think, Another idea is next time you stop into a 7/11 or similar skim thru an auto trader to the back to the misc for sale and check there. I run into stuff all the time so i'll keep my eyes open what year is you truck?

yes i am in the tampa area and i did try cophers on sunday in clearwater and tampa but i know its a hit or miss thing with them so im gonna go to st pete and check again in clearwater today.the truck is a 1991 ext cab and in great shape with new paint and straight body i just bought the truck a few weeks ago and had to do a few minor repairs but when the tranny blew i kinda felt maybe its a lemon.i paid $2500 for it so now not sure when the only place i found a tranny for it quoted me over $500 but hopefully ill be able to find the trans...but from reading on the boards i guess the mazda tranny ia known to be a issue and ill have to make sure i keep checking the fluid when and if i find one..thank you for the welcome to the chaper and ill be visiting often

Depending on how much over 500$ it was you might not get one any cheaper in real good condition. Have you talked to any transmission shops about what they would charge?

its in my 91 ext cab....the truck is so clean but since i got it a month ago i have put in a wiper moter, starter and searched to match the front seats and ended up having to swap both with custom seats...any idea what it cost to have them rebuild it? i was on my way home from the track last sat night and went to down shift and had no clutch ..the pedal went to the floor and stayed there ..i drove it about 20 miles further and the clutch came back and the truck ran fine except no 4th gear...shifet will go in but when i let out the clutch it grinds and pops out of gear....the tranny was whining just before this all happened so im guessing the fluid was low...any ideas?
also been looking at taking it out and other than the shifter it looks like the only thing that could be linkage is what looks like 1 hydraulic line for the clutch is this right?..if so looks like it will be easy to pull out...thanx for any help tim

Sounds like the Synchronizer are gone. That you need the tran. shop to do. I had them done on my T-5 and it ran around 200.00. Thats with me pulling the trans. There is something else on top of the trans, were the shifter gos in through the floor, take the boot up there are 4 bolts take them out pull up on the handle slowly there on the bottem shoud be a little round ball with a plastic cap on it. if the plastic cap is missing the tran. will not go in gear all the way and couse it to crap out early. (NOTE put the trans. in Neutral it makes put it in better.)

I've got one (M5OD) with about 16k miles on it. I'm looking to swap in a ZF with some of my tax return money. It's in my 95 Bronco. I'm in Lake county (Fl)
If you're interested in it, let me know. We'll work something out.

I would have except that since my account is less than 15 days old, I am not able to email other members yet, so my only option was to post a reply. If Tampabandit can PM or email me, via my profile, then fine. Otherwise, short of actually posting my phone number or email address on here, what would your suggestion be, Wiz?
Oh and BTW, tampabandit, it occured to me that my tranny is for a 4x4. Is your's 4x4 or 4x2?
