If your going to get a truck get a long bed as far as working with it, a short box fills up way to fast. Good luck it is going to all come down to what you want and not what any of us have to say.
Well, I am dealing with this question. What I am/was really looking for is feedback as to how much of a PITA the long wheel base is on a day to day basis. I realize that the truck is big to begin with. But when I went from a SB/RC F150 to a SB/SC F150 there was a signifigant difference in manuverability.
I'm afraid of the same with the CC vs SC on the SD. I drove a SC around today and it was pretty easy to manuver. But the CC was a little more difficult the last time I had it out. So i have to decide how MUCH i will use the CC vs the manuverability on a day to day basis. I think at this point it will only be accomplished with a couple of in depth test drives. I make it fine with a super cab now so I'm not convinced the Crew will be that much better except for the 1 time a year I have passengers. But if we all pile in and go camping, then the truck can't get back in the woods because its so......
A Crew Cab SWB SRW is a big truck in itself. It's all about what you need. A LWB is only about another foot or two longer. My truck is a big task in itself to park. But you know what? I really enjoy taking up 4 parking spaces with my truck. Makes me feel important! Just ask yourself the simple question..... "What do I really need".
I vote long wheelbase. I am on my 4th LWB CC truck and wouldn't change a thing. Personnally the extra 9 gallons of fuel sold me on it because we were always towing with the V10's and wanted to extend the range. I gave my wife the option to get a SWB truck when we ordered her newest truck, but she still wanted the LWB. 5'2", 95 pound woman wants the biggest truck she can drive. In 8 years of driving in the city, she hasn't hit anything.
As far as parking goes, with a camper installed, you are not going to parking in any parking garages. I also find that the diagonal spots in parking lots are too narrow and end up parking out in the back forty anyway so people don't door ding me. My trucks don't fit my garage because they are almost too wide (even with the mirrors folded in) and only leaves an inch or two clearance on each side.
IMHO, the longer wheelbase also dampens the bumps in the road a little better than the SWB trucks. My friend was riding in my truck yesterday and couldn't believe it was a 1-ton truck because it rode so good.
Ditto. s-10 did me fine for a long time. My 7700 does me really well. But that one time I carried passengers and the complained about the back seat may be all it takes to get the crew.
I vote LWB, we have F-150 SuperCrew, and it great around town, and my wife loves it. It would be considered a SWB, and it easy to park. We also have a MDT CrewCab PSD SD LWB and use it to pull a very large 5th wheel. The longer your trucks wheel base the more control over the 5th you actually have, or it sure seems that way. I love it! As far as driving the MDT around town, its just like a F 350 LWB, and you will get used to it. Go LWB. Its not a huge dif, unless you need to put it in a garage!

Me 3. I really didn't need an F250, I just wanted it.
I like the long bed myself, but I have a regular cab which is shorter than even the SC SWB.
