If you don't have a chip you will not get any better times, they may actaully get worse. Higher octane doensn't mean more power unless your engine is set up to run it. Higher octane means that it is more resistant to preignition, and a motor tuned for regular will not burn all the premium fuel completely in the combustion chanber causing lost power and efficiancy.

Ok...this is unofficial. My friend was in the passenger seat with his stop watch, and I was watching the guages. When I hit the 1/4 mile mark (according to my trip odometer) I was at 20 seconds. It was also at about a 2-3 degree uphill. I'd like to get official times, but working two jobs and going to college doesn't leave much room for fun.

A stock 4.0 sohc will, and can run low 16's to high 15's with all things being equal. I have a supercab 04 4x4, 4.0, 5 speed, and 4:10 gears. My mods are, jba headers, gibson dual sport catback, k&n cai, e-fan, udp, and a programer, plus BFG 265/75-16's. My best time was a 15.5. If my truck was a 4x2, I could see low 15's. Here in northern ohio, for a 4.0 sohc to hit a 15 flat, or 14's, it would take alot of weight reduction, or a 50 shot. You have heard of the perfect storm, "well', that guy must of had a perfect run, where all things came together just right, traction, altitude, barametric pressure, react-time, you name it. Not impossiable, but every rare indeed. The new mustang gt's are capable of low 13's stock, that can differ around the country due to altitude, and other varibles. Runs at Denver will be slower in the thin air, compared to, lets say Kansas City.
wendall borror - Reaction time only effects your time if your bracket racing. Many do not do that. You could sit at the light for 30 seconds and still run the same time. It works when the tires move and trigger the lights. That is when time starts.
