Help 2002 power stroke sputtering?

Riding down road and truck engine skips and hesitates. From time to time will all togather cut off, but will restart right away. Today the check engine light came on? Any suggestions?

Best bet would be to have it scanned for codes. Somewhere like autozone or checker/schucks/kragen will normally do it for free.

Cam Position Sensor might be going bad. Do a search on here for CMP or CAMP or cam position sensor and you'll find a ton of info.

Whens the last time you changed the fuel filter? Otherwise sounds like CPS sensor going bad.

If codes p0340, p0344 are retrieved, the CMP sensor is probably to blame, if not, or p1211,p1212...etc. show up, you're either low on oil or the IPR may be to blame.
