I just finished the major parts of my power steering swap, now I have one small problem left to deal with. The harness from the 72 steering column that I used is different from the harness on my 69. There are 7 wires in each harness, so I'm hoping I can just splice the plugs from the 69 column to the 72 so I can plug it in.
Does one have the hazard switch in the colume?
If so there was a page here on the diagram on how to connect.

Ok, I've been reading through the archives and haven't found what I needed. So, today I just dove in head first. Here's what I've got. The 72 column does not have the hazard switch. The wires coming from it are: green, white/blue, green/white, blue/yellow, blue, yellow/brown, and red/black.
The trucks original harness has: green, white/blue, green/white, blue/yellow, blue, orange/blue, and green/brown.
I matched the like colors up to each other, and hooked the yellow/brown to the green/brown, and the red/black to the orange/blue.
Left turn signal works fine, brakes work fine, right turn signal only turns on the front light. When I activate the brakes with the left turn signal on, everything is fine. When I activate the brakes with the right turn signal on, the brake lights go off, and the front signal stays on steady.
Here's where it get's really weird. With the key off, right turn signal on, brake lights activated, the front right turn signal comes on steady, the brake lights don't come on, and the idiot lights blink like the turn signal is supposed to.
I'm losing my patience with this, any advice is greatly appreciated.

Red/black stripe is for the stop light switch

All my pre-74 diagrams are the same .
when it comes to tron work, if you don't know what your doing, take it to someone who does, electricity is funky. if you still want to do it yourself and know how to read a schematic, then get the wiring diagrams for you truck.
one time my truck was having problems starting. it would start up every now and then so i figured something was going bad. turned out my alternator was hooked up incorrectly.... for a few years......so it wasn't charging my battery right.... then when i hooked it up right, it was overcharging my battery....so i had to put in a voltage regulator.
the point is that if i didn't know how to read wires and a schematic, i would have ended up replacing all sorts of stuff and still had the same problem lol...
with trucks this old you never know who has worked on it, obviously someone had replaced my alternator and hooked it up in a way that worked but it wasn't correct. that's why you should get the diagrams, it will save you alot of headaches.

I'm not sure if the wiring colors are all the same. I went thru this when I switch columns in a '70 I had years back.
You pretty much need to buy the turn signal switch for the YEAR of the truck, not the column. There are usually the same amount of wire, but two will be different and usually one side turn signal will not work right.
I would suggest taking the switch from your original column and install it in the newer column. It will fit, and the wires will match. It's not a hard job to do, just a bit time comsuming.
