I have a 1990 7.3diesel I am planning on adding a turbo and want to know, is the trans command system really necessary for the turbo to work properly? some backround- New E4OD trans, still having problems with hard shifting, have replaced FIPL, but its not set right and nothing is coming up on diagnostics. So I guess I have 2 questions. Any Ideas.-Not a helpless girl, but my resources are tapped.

The banks transcommand makes a difference. When I installed my banks turbo system this past spring, I drove it for a week with out the trans commander to judge it's effectiveness. It firms up the shifts and lowers the tranny temps while towing. These are good things. I would strongly recommend installing one. Downside is the firmer shifts, at times it's a head snapper, but when towing the slippage is little. I tow a 4000lb boat and a 8500-9500lb TT (wieght depending on how much gear and wood we pack for the weekend). She shifts wonderfully when loaded.
