tranny swap-91 f250

my truck has 5.0l engine in good shape, e40d auto transmission not working. I saw a 87 bronco w/5.0 in junkyard yesterday w/aod trans&transfer-I can get it for about $150, but I'm wondering how well it would work...could I just leave the wiring to the e40d disconected, would that affect the engine? should I get the computer from bronco? I see the bronco transfer has electric motor on it I assume is the shifter-will that present a problem? I may be able to get 85f2504wd w/ standard to convert my truck to 4speed-this would be more expensive

I'm not positive, but I think you can use that tranny. You may have a constant check engine light with the E40D unplugged. The AOD may have a cable that needs to be hooked up. I would use your transfer case, if they are both 4x4, I'm guessing it should bolt on. Then again, driveshaft lenghts and crossmembers could be different. Someone more knowledgable should jump in here and set us straight.
