93 f150 rebuild- need advice
alrite guys so this is kind of a rebuild but not really. ive got a 93 f150 4x4 with an efi 5.0, e4od trans, but everything else is pretty much stock. a couple months ago i put on a 3 inch body lift along with some 33 bfg km2 mud terrains and their great but i wanna go to a bigger tire, a 39.5x13.5x15 super swamper. this truck is purely a toy tht im going to playing on the weekends and wont be driven on the road at all. im going to be putting a 6 inch rough country suspension lift on here in about a week or so, so they will fit nicely once thts in with 9 inches of total lift.
on another note i got a good deal on a '90 bronco thts got a carb'd 351w crate engine with about 40,000 miles, c6 trans, np205 transfer case, longtube headers with a custom exhaust, it also has a 3 inch body lift with some 33's and the guy wants $1000. so im going to buy tht and switch pretty much everything over to my 93 f150 and put the 5.0, e40d, and stock transfer case into the bronco and then sell tht to my old ladies sister and brother in law for $2700. but i told them tht since they wanna make the 5.0 carb'd and i was already going to have it out id just strip it down and get it ready to go for them to convert it to carb. i told them tht their gonna need to have a computer for the trans if they wanna keep the e4od in the bronco but they said its cool because theyd eventually change it.
i know its going to be alot of work doing the swap on both vehicles but since i work at an auto repair shop but it shouldnt be too bad, im looking at about 24 hrs in total, by the books, to do it all. but thts ok im not worried about it since its no real rush. but i know tht running the super swampers itll tear up my stock axles in my 93 f150 along with the half ton running gear so i found some dana 60 axles, front and rear, for about $300 and id want to have them rebuild and have some 5.13 gears put in as well.
my questions to u guys are, 1. would the dana 60's be strong enough to handle the 40's with no problem? ive heard of them breaking on people but only under some exreme circumstances. i know how to drive and how to not tear stuff up so as long as i dont go crazy with it should they be ok? 2. would the sock running gear, besides the axles of course, be able to handle the extra weight of the tires? or should i go get some 1 ton running gear from the junkyards? and if so, what should i look for to pull it from and what all would be in my best interest to pull and use?
thanks again for ur guys' advice i really appreciate it, Mike
