I initially thought that there may be less mud/water on top of the hood instead of in the engine compartment(very muddy). So i bought a K&N velocity stack to put my air intake outside of the engine compartment. With the stealth intake and 2'' carb spacer the whole element now sits outside of the engine compartment. What i am wondering is what could i use to maybe cover up the velocity stack. Like maybe a cowl induction or possible hood scoop. Also i wont be fording any water that will be up to the intake...mostly just splashes of muddy water that will come over the hood. There is about 6'' of the stack that actually comes out of the hood. Any thoughts?
Thomsen, this is exactly what I'm doing with my truck. I just bought a 5" cowl induction scoop that I expect to be here in a day or so. Kind of scares me now that you said it sticks 6" above the hood . . . I hope mine clears because I was planning to buy the same K&N stack. To be honest I get just as much mud on the hood as I do in my compartment so I had to go to a scoop. Plus I think they look hella cool.
Thomsen, sounds like its time to build yourself a sheetmetal cowel. Ivan, your going to be surprised how tall that 5" cowl really is. Doesn't sound like much, but damn
Yeah the velocity stack looks bada$$....I got the one with the 5 inch element so the whole stack is about 10 1/2'' tall. Pro...that is what i was thinkin just to build one myself. I really dont like that the motor sits more to the passenger side too so the velocity stack is off to one side...throws the look off a little but i'm not too worried about it because this rig is for go not show.
