Rear Gears
if your door tag is blank then look at the rear end tag. it is located on one of the bolts holding the rear end inspection cover on. the bottom row starting on the left is your ratio. sometimes the bolt head will cover the first digit so you might have to unbolt it. if it reads 3 73 then it is a 3.73 open. if it reads 3L73 then 3.73 locking differential and so on for different ratios. the next set of #'s in the bottom row indicates the ring gear diameter. ie 10 50 is a 10.5" ring gear diameter. on the top row if the id is a short # starting with a "s" then it is a sterling axel i.e. s129a. if is a long # starting with a "6" i.e. 603932-12 then it is a dana axel.
