Question 93 F250 Shocks?

Howdy Ya'll,

I have a 93 F250 7.3L diesel.
The shocks that are on it now are just about shot.
I drive about 400 miles a week, and I am looking for something to soften up the ride a little bit and yet last longer than the average shock. I don't do any off roading at at all, I haul about 500 to 1000 Lbs in the bed once a week and about once a month I haul trailer with any weight from empty(3000Lbs) to 10,000Lbs usually more around 5000Lbs though.
So with that in mind, do you guys have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Gr8ride

93 F250 Shocks?

Let me add a little more to my original post here.
What after market shock such as rancho and ....... ( guess I don't know any other aftermarket brands) do you guys recommend. With my towing habbits in mind do you think an air ride system would work for me?
Are there any other systems out there besides air ride?
How long is an average shock used under normal driving conditions going to last these days? I can't get them to last more than a year and a half.

Thanks,
Gr8ride

93 F250 Shocks?

Hey there Gr8ride,
I had an ordered new '93 F250 XLT Lariat extended cab HD 7.3 L IDI truck. Had it up until a few months ago, although mine was a stick. If you are bottoming a lot, it ain't the shocks. Mine was undersprung, quite badly in reality. That engine is HEAVY. And your tranny is heavier than mine was. Ended up replacing the front springs with springs from a Super Duty and adding a leaf as well. Ride was great then. no shock change. You will need an alignment though. Those trucks were very sensative to ride height change with respect to suspension geometry. Tires looked like this, when the springs sagged / \ . Which is why the solid axle is much better. Would have bought the 350, had it come with clear coat that year. Munro and rancho are about the best.
Bill
PS, check the rubber bumper block above the twin I beam leafs. If you don't have at least 3/4 inch or more, no shock in the world is going to fix the ride. Best $350 I invested in the old girl. Retired her 2 months ago, for a new SD, with the 6.0L. That ride is even better. But I still miss my first new truck!
