I have a US Marine 460 that i got for free. It is brand new. Does anyone know how to tell what cam i have? I have the engine torn apart and was wondering if it would be worth my time to replace the cam or jus run the one that came in it. The only thing i know about this motor is it was rated for 335 hp i beleive. It has flat top pistons and the heads are 1986 models. If i do change the cam I was gonna go with the compcams extreme 4x4 cam # X4262H and get a stealth manifold and headers for it. Would this cam work without having to modify the valve spings or go to adjustrable valetrain? Also, the cam that is in it is a Ford cam but there are only a couple of casting numbers on it between the lobes and i cant find any info on them.
Well I have searched everywhere and cant seem to find any info on this motor. It has flat top pistons and big chamber heads so its prolly at least a 95 cc head I would guess which would gimme around 9.5:1 compression ratio? I am going to get the comp cams XE4262H, it has 218/226 duration with .514/.524 lift, a weiand stealth manifold, a 750 edelbrock carb and headers. Everything else will be stock for now. That sound like a good game plan? Anyone running a combo like that? Any input is appreciated, if not then i'll let you know how it works out. :-)

Reason: wrong cam
Yes, it has a SCJ intake, at least i think it is because the ports are huge. It is as good? Only thing is, it is cast iron. I can get the numbers tommorow
