I would like to try and replace the serpentine belt myself, but need to find directions on how to do it. 1995 Mercury Marquis. Where might I find this information?
Thanks
Dick
Go get a Haynes manual. It should tell you how to do it there. If it is anything like the trucks at work, it should only take about 5 mins. Word of advice: even though you are replacing it with a new one, keep your old one in the truck, JUST IN CASE. Good luck!
You usually just release the tension on the tensioner pulley with a large ratchet (1/2" I think) and it comes right off. Good idea about keeping the old belt, just in case
Well, on a Mercury Grand Marquis its pretty simple to change. You could find the info on the underside of the cars hood. THere is a diagram there showing you how to route the belt.
You could also get a haynes manual. They sell them at auto parts stores. They cost about $20. Those manuals are awesome. They give you step by step instructions for any repair on your vehicle. A good investment!!!
Serpentines are pretty easy unless you're talking about a van. You might fumble a little at 1st but just release the tension, take the belt off, route the new one then take your wrench off the tensioner and you're done.
