Hey all, 2002 Explorer 4.0 V6...i get a vibration while accelerating past certain speeds, it's not a constant vibration. I can feel it through my pedals and steering wheel. Let me describe it, it usually only happens between 45 and 70 but it comes and goes. Lets say I'm driving on the highway and i go past 45 I will feel a set of three vibrations through the pedal and steering wheel and then it will go away, then i continue to accelerate past 55 it would do it again and go away, then again at like 65 it will vibrate 3 times and go away. I thought it was an out of balanced tire but I just had them rotated and balanced. Any suggestions on what it could be?
The problem could be a few things... it could be an out of balance tire.... even though you just had it done. If a belt shifted in the tire, there it would cause a similar problem to what you are experiencing. Also there is/was a recal out on the drive shaft being out of balance causing a driveline vibration. Get this checked out first as it is the free solution. As for your tranny flush.... I don't think you will be able to do it yourself.... as it is probably one of the sealed trannies.
