I'm a newbie 7.3 diesel owner (2002 F350 S/C 4x4 A/T 7.3 diesel 26000 miles) and was wondering how hard it is to change the fuel and air filter? l believe the fuel filter is behind the black plastic PowerStroke piece on top of the engine? Any feed back is appreciated
Thanks
Remove the plastic cover. You should completely drain the fuel bowl. If you want, attach a piece of 5/16" hose to the bottom of the drain so it doesn't dump all over the place (or be ready with a bucket). The drain, at least on mine, is to the left of the fuel bowl. Push it back to open the valve. Remove the fuel filter cap and take out the old filter and gasket. If you buy a replacement that has the cap attached make sure you keep the old cap for future use. Close the drain valve. I like to fill my fuel bowl with Standyne lubricity formula before I put the new filter in, but you don't have to. Put the new filter in and make sure you follow the directions for proper installation of the gasket and put a fresh coat of diesel on it. Tighten cap and put cover back on. You're done!
Once you've done it once you can do this in about 2 minutes.
