87 ranger fuel pump
my 87 ranger's inertia switch was activated and wont re-set...i have hot wired the self test indicator to check the fuel pump...it works...how do i re-set the inertia switch? thanks for your help

If the button wont stay down, get another inertia switch from the boneyard. Are you sure the inertia switch is the problem? If your grounding the pin where a code scanner normally hooks up & the pump runs the inertia switch isnt the problem. Have you got a wiring diagram.

Check out this link www.superhighoutput.com/tech_view.php?id=5 & ground the fuel pump pin with key at run. If the pump comes on the tan/light green wire is most likely open either in the splice to the self test connector or between the splice and the ECA.
If you're saying that the pump comes on when you jump the EEC relay & turn the key to run, the relay is shot.
