I am contemplating doing this swap to a NP435, questions I just wanna run by the great group we got here is this...Is the bellhsg between the 2 the same ? Is the tunnel gonna be an issue (am I gonna need the tunnel cover off a np435 rig) and is the driveshaft yoke gonna be an issue....its a 1/2 ton column shift that was mickey moused to a poor mans floor shift....I like the 4 spd I got in my 65 which is why I am going with the 435....crossmember differences between the 2 or ????
Don't know about the bell housing. You will need the higher hump -- any 8" from 65 to 72 will do the trick. That is -- you are running two 65's right? Hump changed in the trucks with twin Ibeam suspension.
The other good tranny if you like the NP would be a T-18. But the reverse is different, so if you have two trucks, maybe the NP is the better way to go, to avoid shifting snafus.
I don't know about cross member either. Hopefully you'll get some more input.
