I am having a problem with my fusible link. What will cause it to keep blowing. Will a grounded wire cause it to blow. It has blown twice in the last couple of days. Getting ready to take a trip in a week or so. Don't want to be broke down in the middle of no where.
A fuse or a fusable link? Which one? There are dozens of each. A bad ground could cause it, or a shorted wire. It would help to know what is actually happening when the fuse blows. What stops working?
It is a 86 F-250. Every thing electrical quits. First time couldn't even jump the starter but this time you can jump the starter but still no lights or any thing
.
Where's this link located? Near the starter? Near solenoid? Check for grounded wires, especially something that might be melted to an exhaust manifold. Gotta have a short somewhere. Have an ohm-meter, or access to borrow one? LMK, and I'll try to help you track it down. Got schematics in my Haynes manual, and troubleshoot electronics for a living.
You may have to tear off the electrical tape but check the fuseable link on the passenger fender well. it is the wire that goes from solinoed to the alternator. THat is why mine blew when my brother hooked the wires to battery on backwards.
i had a slight electrical fire on my headlight wiring harness a while back, where the wiring for the pass. headlight goes from two to one in that rubber block on the harness...melted the rubber and broke the splice where they connected....10 mins under the hood and a roll of electrical tape, and all was back to normal...lol...
