Got a quick question. I put my truck in 4 lo to get out of a tight spot then went to switch back to 2 wd.It wouldnt switch back. I tried backing up and going foward. My question is; is there a certain way to switch back from 4 lo to 2 wd. Had to drive home in 4 lo. Not fun if you know what I mean.
Just had same thing happen to me a month ago. The ESOF motor went bad and left me sitting in 4 lo. Didn't have enough time to work on it myself so had local dealer install the new motor. $700.00 including a trany flush . My truck is a 01 with 67K. Sorry to hear about your bad luck..... Not meaning to be snide, but shifter in N and foot on break is the proper disengage method.... I am happy with my truck, but my next one will have a manual shift. Good luck.
I hear you I wish I would have gone for the manual transfer case to.Does that method apply on transmission types (manual and auto). I didnt get a owners manual and this is alot different then my IFS chevy tahoe I used to have. Thanks alot for your help.
I originally had an 01 F250 4x4 PSD with a manual shift and auto trans that I bought in Jan of 01. A chevy HD fell asleep at the wheel in March of 01 and Tboned me in front of the drivers door at 60 mph. We both walked away!.......That truck I would put in and out of 4hi at will (when I needed it), but 4lo I still needed to stop before shifting in or out. I bought this truck off the lot in June of 01. I use the 4hi about once every week and the 4lo only ocasionally and never had any problem until that day. Sorry.. ... Yes, as far as I know that is the recommended procedure when shifting from 4lo. Should see if you can't find a manual, lots of other good stuff in there like turning off that annoying seat belt dinger!
Just reread your post, I don't know if that applies to manual trans.,don't believe you can get a ESOF with a manual trans.
Was never really a fan of push button 4x4, give me a lever and manual hubs any day, kinda wish I had ordered the manual trans too. The way to do it is like these guys said drop the trans into neutral and switch to 4hi or 2. Don't know about the new Fords but my old chevy s-10 (what a piece) with a man trans worked the same way.
You can get ESOF with a manual transmission. I have one, maybe its only one"My luck right". Well guys thanks alot for all your help, I hope i can return the favor someday.
