Where to buy Glow Plug Relay??
I will check it out at autozone.
The engine is the same I understand form 94 on, so is there a reason that the gpr109 wouldn't work?
I found out that I have been starting my truck for two months now without the glowplugs. It sure does make it reallky hard to start when it is super cold. If I have it plugged in, it starts just fine.
I checked the resistance at the glow plug harness for each side and they all came within spec. Then I got it in me to see if the relay was crossing over, and it wasn't. I was relieved because changing glowplugs means taking off the valve covers and all the hardware that is in the way.
I really appreciate the info.
Thanks and Kindest Regards,

Where to buy Glow Plug Relay??
Ok, I went to Advance and got the new version of the GPR109. The new number is mr99. It is a GP Sorenson relay and it installed easily. The relay is 90 deg. off from the old one, but there is enough slop in the wires that it still fit easily.
It starts just fine now.
Broke the old one apart to find that the circle plate that is moved by the coil, wore down one of the contacts to where it would not make contact.
Thanks for all of the help.

Have any of you considered leaving your PowerStroke's two bank's 55 amp glow plug loads split and controling each side with its own relay? The combined 110 amp load kills these relays with disheartening regularity and rarely are these failures noticed at a convenient time. The computer output seems to be powering dual relays fine for those who have tried it, and at 55 amps per relay, I don't think that some of these fellows who have replaced 3 relays during the time they've owned the same truck, would have had their first failure. Glow plug relay failure isn't common on 4-cylinder diesels. Four glow plugs per medium duty relay is enough, 8 causes this continuing stream of discussed failures.
My opinion only,
John

Where to buy Glow Plug Relay??
If I would have thought about that earlier, that is exactly what I would have tried.
My truck never left me stranded, but there were many cold mornings that if I was away from home and did not plug it in, that it would take no less than 10 minutes to start the fool thing. Its a good thing the PS has two batteries though I know that I put some wear on the starter those days that I did not have the trucked plugged in at night.
