I have a 1993 f150 4x4 with automatic locking hubs, i want to switch to manual locking hubs. How much of a gas mileage difference will there be from switching to manual locking hubs.
I don't imagine you'll see any difference in gas mileage from making the switch. Auto hubs are not locked unless your front axle is engaged, meaning under regular driving conditions your front axle turns just as freely as a manual hub in the "unlocked" position.
Switching to manual hubs will make your axle far more reliable but won't change you mileage at all.
even if it is locked it really shouldn't make too much of a differnce....it's not like you are pulling a trailer! I would be more concerned with drivetrain wear and tear!
