Hey all, so I'm in the quest to sell my truck and get a car. But I need a truck for the occasional errand or two. And well it just so happens that at the Idaho Youth Ranch (a charity that sells a few beater cars) there is a bit of a gem. It's sa '94 2wd Ranger regular cab with automatic transmission and 6' bed. I've only been able to see it after they were closed so I don't know the engine, but I assume it's a 2.3l 4-cyl? It's nice and straight with a slight crunch in the left rear quarter panel. Looks like they brushed a pole or something. No rust under the body and the tires are good. Paint is excellent and glass is good. Interior looks fantastic. They want $2700 for it. Think that's a fair price? I'm going to go check it out tommorow. Anything specific I should look for other than the obvious? Thanks in advance, fellas!
I would only pay that if it had low miles (under 100k) and a spotless interrior and exterior. If you get it for 2k, then go for it, but 2700 is a little steep if it has seen better days. Also, figure in the cost of fixing all the crap on it. Little things seem to add up quick!
Yeah I hear ya. I really don't mind the body damage (which upon further inspection is quite minimal), since this is going to be a Home Depot-mobile going to and from the house. Just wondering about the mechanicals. Are the 2.3's the ones who are bitches to change the spark plugs and oil filter on? And as far as the price...kind of a moral issue to be haggling with a charity is it not??
Great theory! Personally, I am not financially gifted enough to start tossing money around if I can get something cheaper, but if you have extra money like that, go nuts! A couple hundred bucks can buy a lot of cool stuff and necessities when you are my age, but i'd be the same 10 years from now.
