Is the Vehicle Speed Sensor one of those items where you are better off buying from a Ford dealer or can you get a decent one from a parts store? Any particular parts store that you shouldn't get the VSS from? Thanks!

I know that places like AutoZone have them for the '97 and older Rangers. The '98+ Rangers are a little different, they use the ABS speed sensor located on the differential, and I heard that AZ doesn't carry those. However, RockAuto.com does have them for the '98+ Rangers at a good price.

Errr...say Rockledge, would the sensor I'm looking for be called an ABS speed sensor instaed of a vehicle speed sensor? If so, I found it on the rockauto site for under $8 for my 2001 3.0 4wd Ranger. Thanks again.
