I just bought my first powerstroke, a 1999 f350 4x4 extended cab with 44,000 miles on it. this is the first one I have owned, but have spent alot of time driving ambulance's with that same powerplant. I know I'm new here, but do you folks have any Idea's of what I should be aware of as a new powerstroke owner? thanks ahead of time.
Jeff
Not sure. Are there mod's that will increase mileage? what mods should I do? like I said, the powerstroke's I have been driving have pretty much been stock.
the pyro wont heat up till after the chip is installed, but the 4" exhaust will take care of that. then after that the intake will be good
Of course, but the whole idea of the pyro is to make sure you don't overheat the engine wrunning a chip or tuner. The air intake is a good idea before the chip to make sure you can get enough air for the extra fuel added by a chip.
MY PSD is a 99 also, has 64k when I got it. Let's see....I had to replace my Cam Positoin Sensor first.....then my multi function switch on the steering column. Both batteries died (the last two items were probably due to a horrible trailer wiring job by the previous owner) Since then.....just regular service as required..(oil change, fuel filter, coolant additive, transmission oil/filter change etc) and the truck should serve you well. If you plan on working the engine hard....get yourself some guages. Exhaust, air filter and chip normally follow next.
