Summary:
THUMP TYPE NOISE/VIBRATION HEARD ON LIGHT ACCELERATION FROM A STOP OR WHEN BRAKING AND COMING TO A STOP. *TT
I bought a 03 Ranger 4x4 last Sept. It now has 7200 miles on it. On occasion I am begining to fell that "shutter" when I come to a complete stop. It is not doing it all the time. The above TSB, which I stated before, was issued in Feb of 03 does not cover the 03's, nor has a new TSB been issued. My question is two fold.
1. Are others experecing this issue? If so how many miles did you have?
2. Does anyone know if Ford did anything at the factory to fix the issue in 03 and newer Rangers?
When they fixed my 99 the components used to repair were totally different than the stock components. I think they referred to it as the drive shaft shuttle.
Now to let off steam. My 99 failed after it was out of warranty, by 3000 miles and a few months. I had to pay $500 to get it fixed. Now I learn the TSB did not even come out until after my 99 was out of warranty!! That really rubs me the wrong way. I wrote a letter to Ford reguarding why I thought should not have to pay for the repair, given the fact that the replacement parts were not the same as the stock parts, hense admiting they had substandard parts on the truck. But I lost that battle. Given the new TSB info, posting after my warranty was up, I am going back to that fight!!
