89 ranger torque converter
help, 89 ranger with a used auto 872.9 eng. recently installed. while driving down the road felt a heavy vibration and immed pulled over. noticed trans fluid pouring out from dust cover in front of trans. truck was also idling rough. had truck towed to garage and now it will not start. squealing sound coming from starter. could it be the torque conv gone bad and if so could any further damage be done to the trans. please i need help as i am missing work. first time user. 2.9/4x4/auto/6cyl thanks.

Welcome to FTE rock ranger.
Just wingin' a guess that the tq. bolts came loose and tore up the pump and flexplate.
Can't see from here, but the recently installed part is mostly why I'm leaning that way.
Either or, you seem to be in deep do do.

If the fluid is pouring out of the dust cover, don't bother to try and start it. It will only make a bad situation worse. Who installed the engine? How much oil was lost? Does the engine turn over or seem to want to start? More info please.
