I have just bought an 89 Ford Ranger with a 2.9l v-6 automatic trans. I was told the transmission had been rebuilt. I know the transmission guy and he does good work. It seems that the gears shift fine when giving it the gas at a quick pace. When I do a slow take off going through the gears the shifting is smooth until I reach the speed of 35mph. It thens feels like the transmission is slipping or surging. Once I speed up past 35 mph the surging stops. I was told it could be the torque converter? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks...Pressing on the brake lightly did help. I wonder what something like that would cost to get fixed? Would the transmission need to be rebuilt again?
