Question Order number

I ordered my truck on friday March 26th and received my order number. I was still questioning myself on a couple of options and the owner said that I have until the next wednesday to make any changes since that is when Ford 'pulls' all of the orders. Which is similar to what Jeff says except he says the day is on thursday. I did make a change, adding the audiophile, on the 28th or 29th. Today I called the VOPC and my status is 'no status'. What is the first status I will receive from VOPC? Or, when I changed my order did a new order number get generated? I would guess that if I used an invalid order number VOPC would mention that but who knows....

I dont think your order number would change. My dealer indicated that he uses the same order # for all of his orders. Now, I cant say that I really understand that, but going on that, your order number ought not change. That said, the first status I received from VOPC was along the lines of "as of [date] truck is locked in for production". I did not call VOPC until I had already had a VIN assigned, which only took a couple of days from the date the order went in. If you made a change on the 28th or 29th, and the dealer went ahead and entered the order, then Ford could have pulled the order on the 1st. However, that's assuming that the dealer got the order in on time. If he didn't, then by the 8th or 9th VOPC ought to have a different status for you.
FWIW, I went in to the dealer 3/8 (Mon), he put my order in on 3/9(Tues), I had a VIN 3/12 (Fri). Up until 3/29, VOPC status was "Vehicle is scheduled to be built week of 3/29" and "vehicle is locked in for production week of 3/29" (not sure which status came first). On 3/29, the status was "vehicle has been produced" (something close to that anyway). On 3/30 up to yesterday "Vehicle has been released by the foreign assembly plant" (which, I asssume, means that it is in transit.) I have read where other people have had status saying something along the lines of where the truck actually is in transit.
I havent called yet today. I'll update if the status has changed any.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information. Typically, does the vehicle get assigned a VIN as soon as Ford pulls the order? Or might it take a few weeks?

That I don't know. I had expected to wait a bit on a VIN. I was surprised to have gotten it so soon. I wouldn't think it'd take as long as a few weeks, though.

Oh, and the dealer told me today that my truck is scheduled to arrive on the 15th. So, the whole process ran from 3/9 to 4/15. Basically 5 weeks. Not bad.

Good luck on your order, hope it gets here quick!

Changing equipment on an order will not change the order number. The only way that could happen is if you're changing the model code (2WD to 4WD, for example). We would have to cancel your first order and then re-order it. You should have a VIN once your vehicle is scheduled for production.

As I've said before, since I have all our order info on-line through the dealer website, I have no need to use VOPC, so I'm not familiar with how it works.
