take 'er off then. i was just wantin to know how its done, like do you guys just replace muff and cat with pipe or do the entire system over? what do you guys recomend for downpipe setups
i heard its just the emissions crap they're worried about, none that backpressure stuff comes into play. the guys say your turbo creates enough backpressure to be able to run straight exhaust. If you want that straight through sound and still have your stock cat on then take her off and gut it then just put it back on. that way its still at least looks legal
Where you at? PHX? Any way check into it. I have a 2002 and it didn't even come witha cat. I bet you don't need one, they don't do anything but bog down a diesel.
so you're saying they wont be able to tell? anyone else give me the okay to gut the stupid thing? i want to make sure im still gonna pass emissions. LOL
Check with the dealerships tehy cannot sell you a truck that won't pass emissions. Like I said mine didn't even have a cat on it and I got it from bell ford. But check first.
i just know that they look under your rig and wanna make sure you got a cat on there because its not emissions legal if you dont (at least thats how i understand it) so you just gut the crap out of your kitty and put her back on and that way they see what seems to be the original cat.
They quit putting them on the PSD either in 2000 or 2001 cause they do not do any good on diesels. Not enough nitrites to be functional. Any way I don''t think any thing changed from 99 to 2002 in the engine compartment so your truck without it would be tha same as mine.
You got me with that one wouldn't hurt to call te dealership and ask them though. At least it would be free advice. Your truck probably isn't under warranty so they shouldn't give you some bull**** answer.
