o2 sensors code po141 problem with code staying on
I need help. I had code pop up for bank 1, sensor 2, I've changed both and had code cleared. I drove for 20 minutes and light came on. I checked code and same thing about faulty heater o2 sensor bank 1 , sensor 2. Could this be like a fuse or something? I just disconnected the batt. for 10 minutes and code is gone. I let truck run for a couple of minutes to adjust computer. I'll drive it in morning to let the computer finish setting itself up. Am I missing something? I'd listen to any advice to keep from having to go to the dealer.
Thanks, Doug

Reason: clear up problem
A P0141 is an EGR code. Are you sure that's the one you got?
If so, there are lots of posts in here about it. The most common problem is a bad DPFE sensor but your EGR ports in the intake could be plugged or the EGR valve could be bad.
Thanks for helping racerguy. It was the p0141. I was trying to get the truck inspected and that code came up. I changed that o2 sensor and light came on again. I got code checked again at auto parts and it was the same code. I changed sensor 1 in the same bank and had code cleared, light came on again. I got home and disconnected the battery and cleared code. Drove to work this morning (30 miles) and no light yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Anyway....Hi MO150 and welcome to the forum
Bank 1 is the passenger's side of the engine, the bank with #1 cylinder.
Sensor 2 is the second sensor on that bank, the rear one, behind the catalytic convertor.
Well I have it figured out now. I changed bank 2 upstream and downstream. I was mixed up on the sides. I took it to a local shop and they told me it was the passenger side. The new sensor took care of the problem. I consider this a journey in my education at a cheap price compared to the dealer university which is too high. I'm just happy it's fixed. Thanks for helping me racerguy, I'm sure I'll need more info in the future.
Has anyone ever modified the computer to be able to control those sensors? If it was ever adjusted how would it show up on a inspection test computer? The front o2 sensors handle the fuel mix, right? and the back 2 nothing but to make sure you don,t gut the cats. Is that right? It just seems only fair to be able to work on these computers a little.
I also had some trouble with a dtc code after high centering on RR tracks
P0161 (B-2 S-2 heated o2 sensor curcit) replaced Curb side thinking (no assumeing) that that was bank #2 was I wrong after finding doc.'s on the web that confirmed my stupidity replaced the correct one and was running like it should again. hope this post may help some one else...their my good dead to mankind for today!!!
hehehe... Michael
