I just finished putting headers and a rebuilt transmission in this truck. It also is running on propane. I am getting codes 32, 54, and 70. I'm going to change out the evp sensor for the code 32, as I already changed the egr valve. I'm going to see if that will take care of the 54 as well. What should I do about the 70? Under light acceleration or just maintaining cruising speed, I get a jerk like a miss. Is this the famous torque convertor shudder? The tranny is an E40D and the motor has 112,000 miles. I've learned a lot from you folks in the last couple months. Thanks in advance.
Is the ignition up to par? It might be a miss. Also make sure you do not have any air leaks. LP is a little more prone to leaning out due to air leaks. Check spark plug wire routing. Separate 7 & 8 it could be an induction miss
Thanks for the replies guys. I'll pull the codes again and see what I get, bigric. Gasmann, I switched out plugs, wires, cap, etc. recently. I had a bit of a surging idle until I switched out pcv and egr. Now it idles smooth, but with an intermittent miss that's hardly noticeable. Under hard acceleration, it does fine. The jerk occurs when barely in the throttle at cruise. I changed the air filter and it became hard to start. I ran it for a couple of minutes w/o the filter when I was changing it and it barely ran. I don't know if that's the nature of the propane as in a huge air leak or not. I'm clueless on the propane system and how it works, but the leaning out part from an air leak makes sense, but wouldn't it affect wot, too?
I pulled the codes again and my truck does use three digit codes. (thanks bigric) I got 327 and 542. The 542 is fuel pump circuit open, which I assume can be explained by the fact that the truck is running on LP. 327 says voltage is too low on the evp, pfe or ept. I changed out the egr and evp and cleared the codes, but continue to get 327. Gasman, the device at the air cleaner, where the fuel hose connects says Imperial. I think you are on to something saying that the system may need adjustment, as the engine is breathing a lot better now with the headers and dual exhaust, but like I said before, I'm clueless on the workings of the LP system. Thanks in advance.
Hi Overos!! lp driven huh? what kinda tank set up you have for that? more people should have thier cars/trucks tricked out for that!! Big question is: do you have to remove the tank from the truck anytime you wanna fire your barbeque grill up? ok im just jivin ya for fun...great setup though, keep us posted on how things work out k?
