LLS sensor questions...

Hi there..i have a few questions maybe you guys can answer. I own a 2000 Lincoln Navigator (4x4) that i assume has the all around air ride. I been noticiting lately when i shut the truck off and it kneels down it is not level on all 4 sides. When i first got it (3 months ago) i noticed the rear passanges side was lower, i took it to ford under warranty and they said they just re- calibrated the computer and that it was fine.

I use the ole' stick your palm method between the fenderwell and tire and it seems that the front drivers side never goes down. I was wondering where the LLS sensor was and how hard it would be to replace this. Is it just 1 sensor per entire system or one on each wheel...? It almost looks like the truck is tilted (leaning) to the passangers side when the bags have released the air.....I have checked it when i drive it and it seems to be fairly level...my only concern is when it is parked and it drops the 2 inches or whatever it drops. This leads me to think it might be the front drivers side sensor....hell i don't know this is all new to me. Any comments or suggestions..?

Interesting. I have same make/model/year as yours an I have never really noticed it 'kneel'. I can hear the compressor run from time to time and it certainly raises an inch or so when 4Lo is engaged. I guess you'll make me go out and measure it now.

To my knowledge we have two sensors on in the front and one in the back.

I think that the dealership can plug it up to special system and level it. I had talked to one of the guys where I got mine about trying to raise the ride height with it.

Try a search on "LLS" or "air suspension"...tons of info on here. My '98 EB had the LLS and I had issues with the rear. Looked into the sensor and there is only one level switch on the rear axle. You can see it easily by looking above the middle of the axle - looks like a small plastic shock absorber. Some have made adjustments to the switch (up/down position) to change the level that the truck runs at. Not sure about the front but there must be a similar setup. I would guess there's one on each side by what you describe. How many miles on your truck? This could be the first of many problems with this system for you...that's what happened to me at about 100K miles! Well documented in many posts. Good luck.
