Cooler and shift kit

Going to be towing 5000# with my 99 5L Mounty and was wondering...

1.) Should I install a second external tranny cooler? (It has a factory external one) for extra insurance or is the factory one more than enough?

2.)It does have soft shifts, should I go with a shift kit to firm them up?

Thanks,
Kurt

Everywhere I have seen topics on the secondary tranny cooler have been split about half and half on the opinion. I for one think your factory one does a good job. The one thing I did was put a larger pan on. Here is where I got mine from: Tranny Pan.

I also have both the Baumann shift kit and the Jet electronic shift kit in my Explorer. If you do nothing else, I would recommend using one of them. The Baumann as 4 levels you can set your tranny's firmness to, but they are not adjustable. I use the second. Plus, the Jet electronic kit gives me the option to go even firmer if needed. The shift kit is the one mod I recommend over anything else for the V8 tranny. Whether you use one of the kits, or both, you will love the difference they make!

What about shift kits for the 4.0? Is it as beneficial?
Thanks
