Headers E-350 W/460

Anyone put headers and dual exhaust on a 80's E-350? I would like to uncork the exhaust with duals. I have dual tanks, is it best to run exhaust down the pass. side and exit behind rear tire? Any recommendations on what headers to use? Is it even worth it? Looks like a tight fit!!! Any help from someone who has been there/done that would be great!

it can be done. headers for your 460 should be easier to find than for the 400 in my '82. keep an eye out on ebay. make sure they are for a van, tho, cuz you are right, it's pretty tight around the dog house edges. i decided to run the headers into a custom Y pipe and 3" single with big magnaflow muffler. duals could be done, but more complex as the driver's side must cross over to the passenger side to clear that mid-ship gas tank. then you could stagger the mufflers and exit both just behind the rear tire. thought about coming out in front of rear tire, but not a good idea with the van's side door right there... uncorking the exhaust is definitely a good idea with these beasts, especially if you've made any other perfromance enhancements. from the factory, those motors are choked by the carb and the exhaust...

I put on a set of Doug Thorley tri-ys and they are still workin after 20 years. Very good quality. Thick flanges and only replaced gaskets once.

what kind of increase in hp and torque did you get after adding in the tri-y's?
How feasible would it be to put a beefed up fuel, ignition, and intake on one of these beautiful beasts?
