After 7 years of driving a Dodge 1500, I traded last month for an 04 F250 PSD CC. Best decision I ever made. Don't believe I'll ever own a Dodge again.
I have had mine up around 112. It used to be 98 till I got the tuner. The HD and lightning trucks have the limiters up much higher as they are sold as sport performance type trucks. Your HD model should cut out around 108. The tires do have something to do with it. but safety and insurance also help drive it. Insurance companies would raise premiums if all the trucks did not have the limiters. This would be bad for sales.
I don't need to go faster than 98. I only did that once just so I would know.
Can you imagine the damage from hitting a deer going over 90?
The highest speed limit within 100 miles of my house is 60 mph.
The V-10 gets to the limit preaty fast and then just stops.
100 + on the public roads is just plain stupid! You kill someone and your are going to jail for life.
Like most when I was younger I did dumb things but I love my kids to much to act the donkey on the road.
I understand the irresponsibility of it sometimes...
but on a wide open road with a well conditioned vehicle...
especially interstates... the radiuses are set for minimum of 80 mph...
most interstates were built in the 60/70's when SPEED LIMITS were 75 if you recall and MANY travelled regularly higher than that :-)
worked at a consulting engr. firm that did many of the I- layouts...
again though - the operative word is the conditions...
I usually set my cruise very high on the trips I take and am very safe because I am observant... not touting any skill set, just that I realize I love my family and want to take care of them so I watch...

When I was a kid, I thought it was funny to think that the Pasadena freeway used to be marked 80 Mph ! Of course when I started driving, the speed limit had been changed to 55 everywhere...
Can you imagine driving across the desert at 55!
Now here in AZ it is 55 - 65 most inner city freeways and 75 soon to be 80 on outer highways.
however...
Going 80 and coming up on somone going 45 isn't too pretty...
I've not yet had the chance to take the truck out on the road... just to and from work which is not much of a drive.... hopefully this weekend.. watch out Easter Bunny!
