I've got a 2004 Ford F-250, Harley Davidson 6.0L Crew Cab, and I am wondering about the speed limiter...I understand I might get flamed because somebody already took this personally but I would like to know.
About two months ago I hit 100MPH, so I asked around and was told the limiter won't let you go that high. So I say "Ok, speedometer error" so it must be off, right?
Not two hours ago did I hit 103MPH. I've been told these are limited to 90? 95? Why did I hit 103? The H.D. truck's speedo goes all the way to 110MPH. When I hit 103 there was no unusual noises or sputtering of the engine so it couldn't have been getting limited at that speed. I let off the gas, it was still going to rise up.
Don't take this personally, guys! I'm just the middle man between the speedometer and you.
The speed limiter on the SD's is at 98 MPH. Your HD's speed limiter must be set at a higher speed (like 105 maybe?) but you should still have one. Before I got my chip, my truck would always cut out at around 100MPH or so. Now, it goes past that, (110 maybe ? ) then it goes around in circles (when going 125+) I wish they made these trucks with speed markings past 100 MPH
My speed limiter used to kick in at 94mph....BUT now all i get is the check engine light since my superchips tuner raised the limiter I've not yet had the limiter kick in....
The old trucks used to be set at 99, not sure what they are now. But your speedo is not spot on, I run my GPS and the faster I go the more off the speedo is. At 60 I am spot on at 65 1 mph off by 85 I am showing 85 on the speedo but 82 on the GPS so you might be reading faster than you are going.
Last my brother and I had the same truck and he was a good bit faster than I was so not all speed limiters are created = some will get a few mph more.
Not sure how it works, but yes all trucks do have a speed limiter, the HD's is either set higher or on the lightning and hd its off possibly. Im scared to push my truck to the redline with my large tires
A chip is designed to do just that, rewrite the computer so it delimits (most do anyway) and sends more fuel/air. Personally i cant see a hd doing 125 unless its lowered or something, hope you dont hit a chevy geo doing that, youll take the top of the car clean off.
Personally if your gonna spend 45+k on a truck, just get a dodge ram srt10 man, **** thats a truck
