Question Greasing the Aerostar?

I have a 94 Aerostar, 3.0L passenger van (we call her Ginger). Since we've been doing our own oil changes, we've been wondering if there are any places in the undercarriage where we should be using the grease gun. I can't find any mention of lube locations in the useless owner's manual or in the Haynes manual. She has developed some rather worrisome noises in the rear (don't we all, after a certain age?) I thought we should rule out the obvious problems, such as a possible lack of grease, before assuming the entire suspension is about to drop off.

She has been and still is a wonderful vehicle (110,000 miles) and has never stranded me roadside unlike my previous Ford, which shall remain nameless...

She probably has at least grease fittings on upper ball joints. The other suspension parts are probably grease free.

Check your tie-rod ends and Universal Joints as well. I grease my truck every oil change. Good luck!

Most likely with 100K it is the rubber for the sway bar being worn out.

if yours is like mine the noise from the rear end is from the upper control arm bushing.
it is rubber against steel rubbing. i think because the rubber is old and hard it makes noise. you can not replace it because ford does not sell the bushing. you have to buy the whole upper control arm. this noise does not hurt anything except the driver listening to the noise. i have heard spraying silicon spray on it helps. i have checked alot of aerostars that do this. you can tell by jumping up and down on rear bumper.
the other thing is to check for loose shock absorbers. mine were loose and made all kinds of funny noises.

In addition to aforementioned fittings, if the previous owers replaced the driveshaft universal joints, the replacement joints MAY have grease fittings on them. Some replacements do and some don't. You have to spin the driveshaft by hand and inspect both sides of each joint to find the fitting. While doing this, see if there is any play in the U-joints. Any detectable movement could also account for the noise you experience.
