My 96 Bronco has the factory CD player which I plan on keeping for a while. My problem is if i open the glove box and shut it hard enough the cd skips. It also does this if I slap the top of the dash with my hand. Is this normal? If not what's the problem? Could there be a loose connection or could the cd player just be a piece of *****?
I'm sure that factory cd players don't have the best shock absorbtion systems integrated in them. I have a sony x-plod cd player in my 89, and even with my old shocks(replaced already) it didn't skip unless I hit a heck of a pot hole.
Probably just need a good cd player...they're reasonably priced on ebay.
yea, after they get a few years old they'll begin to skip. It may be that you have a dirty lens. Try putting in a CD cleaner (walmart about $5.00). If not it may be time to get a newie. hope this helps.
Sony was the first and as far as I know the only that makes stereos with ANTI-SKIP. The factory systems back then didnt have the anti skip but nowadays, Sony is making stereos for the auto makers with the anti-skip. CD Skipping is normal expecially in the older units. Like superman said, they get dirty and sometimes a cleaning will help..otherwise...get a new unit.
