Well, since you guys didn't respond.......Im getting the Pro Comp suspension lift tomorrow. did some homework, and even though Fabtech won a few awards for the 2004 F-150 lift, I kind of like the Pro Comp better

I'm in San Diego also and I am very interested to see how your truck turns out. When you get it installed could you post some pictures and let me know where you got it done? I'd really appreciate it. I don't have a clue where I'm going to go to have it installed. Thanks.
I tried to post some pictures in the past, but the files were too big. I think I need to change the settings in my camera? If I get it figured out I will definately post some pics. I will be getting the the Pro Comp lift installed tomorrow by 4 wheel parts in Chula Vista.....very reliable.
I just got through reading the May (maybe April) issue of "OFF-ROAD" magazine. There's a arcticle on the Fabtech kit.
I like the coilovers on the Pro-Comp kit better, but I noticed that the Fabtech kit uses "lateral support struts". The run from the rear LCA drop down bracket to the transmission x-member.
I don't know the price of the Fabtech kit, but as of right now I'd probably choose the Pro-Comp kit. Do you know how much the Fabtech kit is?
I heard that the Fabtech is approximatley $200.00 more than the Pro Comp kit. I did not get the coil over kit because I want to keep the stock ride. I heard that the the coilover will make the ride much stiffer than it already is. The coilover kit comes with the MX-6 shocks. My kit comes with the RS-9000 shocks. What do you think?
Sounds good. You should be happy with the RS-9000's. I had 4 of them on a lifted Ranger years ago. The kit came with shocks, but I changed them to the Rancho 9000's. Let me tell you it was like night and day. I read an indepth writeup comparing the RS-9000 to the MX-6 and the MX-6 was clearly "better" based on the arcticle, but I was very happy with my RS-9000's.
I've only had my truck for 3 months now. I'm going to wait to lift the truck until I'm sure I want to keep it long term. If I decide to keep it I will probably go with the Pro-Comp kit w/ coilovers and MX-6's. I have had Superlift, Trailmaster, RCD and Pro-Comp kits in the past and out of the 3 I rate Pro-Comp and RCD #1 (tie), Trailmaster #2, and Superlift #10 (not pleased).
From where did you hear that the PC kit w/ coilovers made the truck ride stiffer? My last truck was a 2002 Level II FX4 Ranger and I installed the RCD coilover suspension and it made it ride MUCH nicer. However, the Ranger was originally equipped with torsion bars which I am not a big fan of.
Well, I've heard that on this forum and I been told from the people of ORW and 4 wheel parts. I initially wanted the coilover kit, but they all told me that I will lose my stock ride if I do. In my opinion, my truck is super stiff as it is....I don't think I could handle it being any stiffer. But hey, if you get the coilover let me know how it rides.....I guess I can always upgrade.
I just read the whole Fabtech article in the May issue of "Off-Road Magazine". I may have changed my mind about what kit I'd buy. You may want to check out that article. You may change your mind too... if it's not too late.
Ya, I read it already. It did make me think about it a little more, but I have confidence in Pro Comp. I heard nothing, but good reviews. The Fabtech sound like it's gonna be really good though. Unfortunately it's too late......truck it being worked on as I type
The thing that bothers me about the Fabtech is the fact that they grind and cut parts off of your truck when installing the lift. I know it's probably not that big of a deal, but to plop down 30+ grand on a truck only to have stuff cut off just doesn't sit well with me.
Sure, if I can get it to work. I went to pick up my truck, but it's not going to be ready until tomorrow morning.....hopefully I'll have the pictures up tomorrow.
