I've read that the 2000 V10 is rated at 310 HP and 425 ft-pd of torque. Does anyone know what Ford has done to tweak the extra power and torque? Maybe it's a simple (cheap?) computer modification with out any head/manifold/valve (expensive!) changes. Any news?

Hmmm..., 310HP is a new one to me. Until your msg, all I've heard was 290, which didn't sound right, since Dodge already produces 300 horses with their V10. Seemed only logical that Ford would go for one-upsmanship.
Adding a Superchip to a '99 V10 gains 29HP @ 3,300rpm (304HP) without any other engine alterations, and it's easy to believe that better breathing (intake and exhaust) could handily produce about the same increase in horsepower (roughly 10%). Tweaking the factory PCM chip could then boost it by another 10-15% without causing huge problems. It'll be interesting what Ford actually does, won't it?
I'm going to guess that the revisions could include the cam shaft timing also. It will be interesting to see what Ford has done. It's probably cheaper to go with aftermarket bolt-on's but using OEM would be nice if the mods only include a few changes external to the engine. Does anyone have an address for 'chip' manufacturers? I'm thinking about this and a transmission shift kit.

Steve H was the first any only source of the 310 HP.
In my conversations with Engineers, they were shooting to match Dodge's 300 HP, and was there, but had to make a few more fix's to address an exaust noise problem, that was likly to drop it to 295 HP.
My "2000" F-250 Crew Cab 4X2 Short Bed is being built the week of 8/2 and should be in my hands around 8/28/99. I plan on taking the truck to a local Chassis Dyno and get a base line rear wheel HP before I start making my planned changes.
I have a copy of the "Year 2000 Ford Fleet Vehicle Guide", it states 290hp. for the V-10 in a Superduty. The guide was printed 4/99, so things might have changed since then.
I'm on the 97&up truck email list for this sight and a Ford dealer recently stated on the list that the 2000 model SD V10 was rated at 310 HP. Previous to this statement he had stated that the 2000 model V10 was rated at 290 HP. Apparently Ford has made further improvements and maybe what Steve H. has read is actually fact.
