Hey guys,
Is there anybody out there with a 6.0 thats happy with it? I've been checking this post because I wanted to buy a F250 crew cab with the diesel. But, it sounds like a bad investment. I've always been a Ford man but it sounds like they just want your money. I like the Ford body, hear only good stuff about the cummings diesel, but allison seems to have the transmission but Toyota and Nissan have superior build quality. If somebody would build a truck with a full size double cab without chopping off the bed and put a strong engine in it that got at least 18 mpg and then some how managed to get a tranny that would stay behind it in case you acually wanted to tow something now and again, I think I would get one.
My 04-04 F-250 diesel 6.0 has been a good one but you have obviously read the horror stories.
I would be inclined to wait for the 05 due to minor but desirable improvemants. Do a search for the details.
It seems like the amount of horror stories ratio wise has gone down some with the 04 over the 03's.
05 will be the 3rd of 6.0 production so lets hope that's "the" year to have one.
Anyway, next years truck is always better and you can't wait forever...

any new vehicle is going to be a bad investment. just a fact.
now, your talking about a 6.0L, and then putting import quality in the same paragraph...since they offer nothing even slightly comparable, i do not understand how they entered the picture.
at any rate, manyt people are expecting that since they paid 40+k for a truck, it should be like an escalade.....you cannot tow 13,000lbs with an escalade... the best is the "terrible vibration" type posts, those crack me up! or slight exhaust drone....in a damned DIESEL! like they dont vibrate?? WTF were they expecting?
as far as reliability goes, my truck has been totally satisfactory. i am still very happy with my purchase.
also, just to show how good they are, seems like every buy back i have heard about on this site and others, the owners went and got a ANOTHER SD 6.0!!!!!!!
if they were really a POS, why would the owners get another?
don't let a couple cry babies that have no clue what a real truck is, one that can actually be used as a truck deter you from a purchase. is it a lexus? NO! it will have wind noise, ride stiff as he!!, bounce you all over the place, have a turning radius of a school bus.....but it can also haul a 40' fith wheel up a 8% grade @ 80mph, haul 5k worth of crap in the bad....and still spin the tires doing either
anyhoo, do alot of research, as it appears you are doing before you make a decision.
I've also been very happy with my 04, 6.0 F250 crew. Tows a big camper with ease, gets as good fuel milage as my 5.4 F-150, and is comfortable. No problems of any kind, with over 5K.
The only experience i have ever had with a powerstroke 6.0 was the other day when i went into the ford dealer and there was an old man that was swearing up a storm in frustration looking at a SD with the front clip ripped off that he was trying to remove the PS from. He had told me that it was a 6.0 that had "thrown a piston down into the oil pan and totaly wasted it!" I saw the new one on a crate (large) i could not believe how ripped apart he had this brand new truck. 2300 Miles !!!
i am not a psd owner and never have been and this is the only psd experience that i have to base my opinion on.

I don't think that he was talking about how it rides.
I also read all the remarks on the 6.0, asked several questions here and on other forums. See signature below, truck will be here anyday and I'm so da*n excited I'm driving the wife nuts. You will find this is a forum to help users, so by nature you are going to read about a lot of issues, but there are a heck of a lot more satisfied owners out there driving their Ford SD instead of posting. I think what really made me a believer was taking a trip and seeing just how many more Ford SD there were on the road compared to the other manufactors. Decision Made...
Describe HAPPY!! Love the way it drives, looks, and the great/awsome power!! BUT,, as was stated in an "earlier post" about the "cry babies", the problem isn't that we are driving Diesels, and have to live with it.. It's that we as Ford owners, (I'll speak for myself here) are having more problems (seems) that the other manufactures, maybe not, and we JUST WANT OUR MONEYS WORTH!! and for Ford to get them straightened out, or replace them,.. If you haven't had any problems "GREAT", but for those that do (like the Turbo Drone/Main leaks ect.) or worse,, don't blame it on being just being a diesel.. IF all Diesels/Manufactures had all the same problems then YES.. The thing that is hard to swallow is that only "SOME" of the trucks have these problems and aren't exactly year specific!! Some of the 04's are having their share as well.. I didn't spend 40,000.00 bucks to have a new truck that leaks, vibrates, and sometimes won't start.. This is a design/egineering issue and not just a "diesel family" of events...
