engine noise

I have a 98 f-150 with 5.4L 58.000 miles. when I first start it up I here a lot of what sounds like lifter noise, but it does not go away after warm up. At running temp. in park I can reb up to 1500 rpm and let off and here it very clear from inside the truck. oil preasure and everything else seams ok. Can anyone help? the truck is at the dealer now.

From: Louisville,Ky.
It could be a clogged oil port to one of the timing chain tensioners or an exhaust leak at one of the manifolds.

I know it's not a exhaust leak but not sure about timing area. I just want the dealership to agree there is a problem. it's under a used vehicle warranty and they are trying to tell me the noise is normal. tick tick tick" bang" it's not normal

I have read where some people hear a ticking noise from a loose spark plugs- just before it blows the plug out of the head taking the threads with it.

I tried to find some posts that describe the loose spark plug tick but I could not find them- but I am sure I have read more than one.

Blowing plugs in the Tritons is apparently somewhat common- here are a couple threads, and there are a lot more.
