IM putting my 4" BDS long arm kit on this saturday. The lift is coming off of a bronco and going onto my truck. the bronco is going to the junkyard, so there will be no work on it other than taking the lift off. We're gonna start with the bronco on a car trailer so we can just take it apart down to the trailer, since it wont have any running stock or suspension when we get done.
What kind of things should I be prepared for? I know I need impact and sockets, a drill and 7/16 bit for the new bracket holes, and a coil spring compressor for the coils. Obviously miscelaneous hand tools for shocks and retainers and what have ya.
What can I expect? I've only put in coil spacers before, never a whole lift. We are going to start in the morning, and hopefully have the whole thing done by around 6 pm.
I always had problems getting the leafs positioned right once one side was on. I ended up using the hearst spreaders at the rescue squad where I worked, but I also found a second small bottle jack with the screw on extension works well to get everything in place.
oil up all the nuts and threaded ends the night before with PB Blaster...you'd be surprised how much easier it will be. get a bucket and throw ALL the parts you removed and put them in there so you don't kick the smal nuts/bolts around and lose them. I always used a chain, a set of bucking dawgs, and a cheater bar to re-align the springs! it has worked wonders even if i am alone! A blue flame is always useful for many MANY things.
Check your shock mount bracket and radius arm brackets, some of mine were rotted and I had to wait over 2 weeks to get them in. I also had a broken leaf in the rear. That was w/ 68K on it too.
thanks guys. I'll keep all of it in mind. Notchstang, this lift is less that a year old, and maybe has 5000 miles on it. shock mount brackets are coming off the bronco too.

A blue flame? What good is a sophmoric trick that usually results in a flaming gluteous?
That pic is hilarious. Best advice I can give you is use a torque wrench on your bolts, tighten them to spec, then re-torque all of the bolts again in two weeks max.
A small 4" or 4.5" grinder for the rivet heads. A big Craftsman phillips screwdriver to align bolt holes. Then if you bend it, you can return it for another one. A drift for bushings can be used, but, they are usually too big if the hole is way off from being centered.
