All,
Drywall is perfectly fine for a garage. 5/8" is a much more durable board.
A good coat of paint should help seal it. The lighter the color, the more light it will reflect. OSB is ugly for a wall covering.

Not doing the ceiling? OK dont come back here crying when the outer edges of the ceiling drywall sags. Its best to do the ceiling first then put up the wall boards as the boards support the edges from saggin.

No, I'm not doing the ceiling. When I get around to the ceiling, I'm going to cover it with celotex or some other kind of reflective insulating panel. Thanks for your concern though.
96hulk - I have a son, but he's 3 so I don't think he'll be much help. I have a friend lined up to help.
I just finished my garage ceiling 18 sheets I rented a drywall lift and i used my cordless drill. I wished I would have had a drywall gun. I have 20 more sheets to put up on the walls.
