CNN Continues to slide

CRISIS AT CABLE: CNN LOSES HALF OF AUDIENCE FROM YEAR AGO

CNN has lost more than half its audience from a year ago, according to NIELSEN.

In 24-Hour Time Period for the first quarter of 2004, FOX NEWS CHANNEL averaged 824,000 viewers, down 36% vs. a year ago, which saw heightened viewership due to the Iraqi War. CNN plummeted 52%, averaging 458,000 viewers, while MSNBC dropped 49% averaging 234,000 viewers.

In PrimeTime, FOX NEWS decreased 36% from its 2003 viewership, averaging 1,394,000 people. CNN plunged 48% with 806,000 viewers and MSNBC fell 50% with 333,000 viewers.

Eleven out of the top 12 cable news shows so far in 2004 appeared on FOX NEWS. Only one of CNN’s shows, Larry King Live, made the list at number four with 1,302,000 viewers. King trailed behind FNC’s The O’Reilly Factor (2,241,000 viewers), Hannity & Colmes (1,540,000 viewers).

Sad. No wonder we have an uninformed public. I think a lot of old tv news viewers are going to the internet for news though. I have not watched mainstream media news in years, not a big fan of corporate propaganda.

Another FOX lie....

http://www.fair.org/extra/0404/fox-ratings.html

Nice spin job fox....

BTW There is no liberal major media. That was a made up deal by the GOP that stuck. They have admited that long ago...

Just listen to what one of the media's most respected professionals, John Swinden, head of the New York Times, said in when he was asked by his peers to toast the independent press in a gathering at the National Press Club. He said, "There is no such thing at this date of the world's history in America as an independent press. You know it, and I know it. There is not one of you who dares to write your honest opinion, and if you did, you know beforehand it would never appear in print. I am paid weekly for keeping any honest opinion out of the paper. Others of you who would be so foolish as to write honest opinions to appear in one issue of my paper, before 24 hours, my occupation would be gone. The business of the journalist is to destroy the truth, to lie outright, to pervert, to vilify, to fawn at the feet of Mammon and to sell his country and his rave for his daily bread. You know it, and I know it, and what folly is this, toasting an independent press? We are the tools and the vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are the Jumping Jacks. They pull the strings, and we dance. Your talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes."

That is how I see it.

Everyone of them has to put their own spin (political agenda) on every story.

Just report the facts and nothing more.

"head of the New York Times"

Got to that part of you post and quit reading. The National Enquirer has more journalist integrity that paper. 20 years ago they where the standard by which all newspapers where judged. Now its used in referance to "At least we're not as bad as the NY Times".

Why should I care if CNN and FOX are losing viewers. I watch ABC News for a half hour and get more information than I do on FOX or CNN in an hour.

I find that printed news is far more biased (usually to the left) than TV news, or atleast it's easier to pick out the bias.

Pick up any news article that has any political value in it and read it. Take a highlighter and either highlight the adjectives and opinions, OR the facts (your choice). You'll see the bias of the author and that we could save a ton of paper and bandwidth if only the facts were reported and it was left up to you to decide how you felt about it.

I have to agree with you and they are a lot fairer than other channels. They realy look at both sides.
