My parents bought a 1997 Ford F-350 dualie;7.3l diesel. When the truck hit 44k the transmission (automatic) started acting up. When shifting from 2nd to 3rd, it would SLAM into gear. It was so rough that it threw my mom's back out! They are now in the middle of a lawsuit with the dealership (long story). We are trying to prove that it is a manufacturer's defect in the transmisson. We know there are other people out there who have had the same problem, but don't know how to get hold of them to get more information. If this has happened to you or if you know of someone who has had this same problem, please e-mail me at:
Thank you for helping us!
why should they be shot? Do some research on the E4OD tranny and you will see that this tranny has been a problem for a LOT of people! The lawsuit is not for medical it is because they have refused to pay for the entire amount because it was a factory default.
Your lawsuit sentence is prefaced by one saying your mom's back was thrown out. What is a reader supposed to think. If you lawsuit is over the tranny repair you possibly have a legit. suit. We all know the E4OD has problems. I would suspect there are many suits against Ford over the E4OD.
Sorry, I can see why there was a misunderstanding. The whole reason I posted my original message was to find people who have had the same problem. This would hopefully force Ford to admit there is a problem. I researched it most of the day yesterday and got about 75 pages of info on the E4OD and NONE of it was good! If you know of anyone with these kind of problems please have them send info.
Thanks!

Funny you said "A Lot Of People". ive had 3 trucks with the E4od and never had any problems. In fact, Ive got a 93 F-150 with 140k and never had to do anything but change fluid. I know alot of people who have/had the E4od and havent had problems. I know that the early E4od's were frequently having problems. I had a 90 with a AOd that only had 44k when it had to be rebuilt. The cause: no cooler! I learned the hard way.
On my way home from work tonight, my 99 F-350's
trannny started slamming gears as you described.
What is the deal with E4OD? I'am bummed out,
I love this truck!
